Glad Products Pitches in for Mardi Gras
February 09, 2006
By Mike Beirne
CHICAGO -- While Mardi Gras' official version of its own "Girls Gone Wild" video has yet to be sanctioned, New Orleans does have the official garbage bag for the celebration.
Glad Products, a unit of Clorox and maker of the ForceFlex trash bag as well as food-storage and sandwich bags, and GladWare containers and ovenware, has stepped up as a participant in the Big Easy's first ever Mardi Gras Ad Support and Sponsorship program. MediaBuys, Los Angeles, is brokering the sponsorship program to help offset some of the cost of staging New Orleans' biggest party.
Glad will work with the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation for the carnival's sanitation, maintenance and cleanup efforts.
The company also is donating more than 100,000 ForceFlex trash bags to the effort and coordinating volunteers who are helping with the cleanup. The Clorox Foundation already has donated more than 1.2 million Glad ForceFlex trash bags to American Red Cross relief efforts in the Gulf region.
